Help: All About Appointments

Viewing Appointments

There are three ways to view your appointments: week view, month view and individual appointment. Week view is the default, the one you will get if you click "Appointments" in the left hand menu. It automatically provides all of the current calendar week's appointments. This is useful for planning out daily activities. Month view provides a higher level overview of when you will be pet sitting, showing all appointments for the current month. This is useful when planning vacations and other long term events. Finally, individual view provides all details related to the appointment. You can view an individual appointment by clicking on any appointment that appears in either week view or month view. The individual appointment view provides all pertinent details of an appointment and excludes anything you did not fill in.

Additionally, both the week view and month view provide a text field/calendar for navigating to other date ranges. You can either type a date (conforming to a "YYYY-MM-DD" format) or click on the calendar icon to the right of the date box and select the desired target date with your mouse.

Adding/Editing An Appointment

Appointments represent all the details needed to schedule a pet sitting. They include:

Client - The client you will be working for. This field is a dropdown, filled in with a list of all of your clients.

Pet(s) - The pet(s) of the client you will be caring for. Once a client has been selected, checkboxes will appear for all of the pets for that client. Select as many as needed.

Date - The scheduled date of the sitting. There is a text field/calendar provided. You may either type your date in "YYYY-MM-DD" format or use the calendar to select the date.

Time - The scheduled time of the sitting. A text field is available for hours and minutes and a dropdown for AM/PM. Note that this is for the scheduled time. The actual times the visit started and ended should be recorded in the corresponding "Visit Diary Entry".

Directions - Directions to the client's home. You may fill in this large text area with the directions in any way you see fit.

Special Instructions - Additional, non-standard instructions. This text area gives you room to note anything about the appointment that may not be routine, such as additional home or pet care.

Leave Receipt - Whether or not you should leave a receipt. This checkbox serves as both a reminder (in case you print your appointments) or as a record keeping measure in case you should need to refer back to it.

Once all of the required fields have valid data, you simply click the "Save" button. The appointment will be stored and you will be presented with the individual appointment view including all of the items you filled in.

NOTE - The details of the actual pet sitting visit itself are stored within the corresponding "Visit Diary Entry". You can fill in this information by viewing the individual appointment and clicking on the "Add Visit Diary Entry" button.
